How it came about
We are a father & daughter team who use our own honey and that of our beekeeper friends to make personalised Hönigli. The origin of Honigli.com comes from the planning phase of my own wedding, when I was racking my brain about what to give our friends and relatives as a gift. It was important to me that it be something useful that people actually take with them and would enjoy. It often seemed like the majority of the lovingly designed guest gifts remain on the tables at the end, and I wanted to prevent that happening.
So the idea arose to give away the honey from the bee hives in our own garden. This meant that I could also customise the honey to my personal taste. The self-designed label fit perfectly into the colour scheme of the wedding and I was only able to add our names and the wedding date to the honey pots. My delicious, healthy and environmentally friendly "guest favours" came into being (the honey is 100% local and the container 100% recyclable). I then used them as the place name tags on the tables by tying labels (also matching the wedding colour scheme) to the Hönigli. This made them an attractive part of the table decorations.
Happily, the Hönigli were very well received and there were none left on the tables after the wedding! A little later, a guest from the wedding called me and asked if I could make up some more personalised Hönigli's for an event at their company, and Honigli.com was born.
